India, Feb. 4 -- A fresh encounter broke out between a joint team of security forces and terrorists in a remote forest area of Basantgarh in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The gunfight erupted during an ongoing search operation launched in the area since Monday, following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist outfit. At the same time, the security forces continue to hunt down a group of terrorists in the upper reaches of Kishtwar.
