Bhopal, April 24 -- In a decisive move to curb environmental pollution, the Bhopal district administration has taken its first major action of the season against stubble burning, penalizing four farmers with fines amounting to Rs 37,500. The action was carried out for violating the district-wide ban on stubble burning, which remains in effect until May 5, 2025. Alongside the monetary penalties, the administration has initiated the process of filing FIRs against the violators under applicable environmental and criminal provisions.
