BHUBANESWAR, April 11 -- Due to prompt action taken by the Forest Department, the number of forest fire points in the State has been reduced to 8,000 this summer season from 27,000 reported during the same period of last year.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Debidutta Biswal said that the forest fire incidents have been reduced in the State due to awareness among people and rainfall activities.

Forest fire was reported at 27,000 points during the same period last year while it came down to 8,000 this year as the forest officials have responded to around 99.5 % forest fire points, he said.
