Chandigarh, June 2 -- Cracks have begun to surface in the Congress party's Ludhiana unit ahead of a crucial Assembly bypoll, as political rivalry reared its head between former friends-turned-foes Simarjit Singh Bains and Kamaljit Singh Karwal - both now under the same party's umbrella.
While Bains, a former MLA and president of the now-defunct Lok Insaaf Party, joined the Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with much fanfare under the aegis of Rahul Gandhi, Karwal rejoined the grand old party on Sunday, brought in by former Chief Minister and current Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi. The development, however, did not sit well with Bains.
