Shimla, April 18 -- / A sudden and powerful storm lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh late Wednesday night, uprooting over a dozen deodar, pine, and other trees in Shimla district alone. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), wind speeds reached up to 80 kmph, resulting in widespread damage to vehicles, property, and horticultural crops. In Shimla city, trees came crashing down in densely populated areas like Chhota Shimla, Sanjauli, Kaithu, Panthaghati, Kanlog, and Comely Bank. At least half a dozen vehicles were badly damaged in areas like Majitha House, Vikasnagar, and Panthaghati as heavy trunks and branches fell on parked cars.
