New Delhi, March 6 -- The first computerised draw of lots for admission of students under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) categories for entry-level classes in private schools was conducted on Wednesday for 42,000 seats.

According to Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, the draw of lots was organised in the presence of parents and media to ensure fairness and the registration limit of 2.5 Lakh was increased to five Lakh.

To ensure that the process was completely fair and beyond any doubt, the draw was conducted digitally through a standalone computer, eliminating any chances of manipulation. Multiple television screens were installed at the venue so that parents could witness the process in real-time. ...
