RAIPUR, April 9 -- The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday said that there was no better choice than the Medical College and Hospital (MECAHARA), Raipur, is made into a dedicated hospital to treat Covid-19 patients in the state.

Justifying the decision of earmarking the MECAHARA as a dedicated centre for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in the state, official sources said specialist doctors, trained staff, adequate numbers of beds and facility of an ICU had forced the government to decide in making it the state- level Covid-19 hospital.

The MEKAHARA is the only state-run hospital, which has a 500-bed multi-specialty unit and a 100-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an official said.
