Bhopal, May 2 -- The Election Commission of India on Thursday announced three new initiatives to enhance accuracy of electoral rolls and make voting easier and more accessible for citizens.
These initiatives were envisioned by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the March 2025 conference of Chief Electoral Officers. Election Commissioners Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr Vivek Joshi were also present at the meeting where these reforms were finalised.
The Commission will now receive electronic death registration data from the Registrar General of India. This will enable Electoral Registration Officers to remove deceased voters from rolls more accurately and promptly.
