Ranchi, June 1 -- The onset of the southwest monsoon in Jharkhand this year could well be the earliest since 2003 as per the current prevailing weather conditions, weather officials said.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, the normal date for the onset of monsoon over Kerala is June 1- which marks the beginning of the four month long monsoon season over the country. The southwest monsoon has set in over Kerala on May 24, 2025 and is 8 days ahead of its normal date. This is earliest date of monsoon onset over the southern state after 2009 when it had arrived on May 23.
