New Delhi, June 20 -- Amid speculations that a combined unit of the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the ill-fated AI171 flight has sustained damage and is being sent abroad for retrieval and analysis, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday said the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will decide on the location of decoding the black box of Air India's crashed Dreamliner.

The Ministry further said the decision on where the data will be decoded rests with the AAIB and will be made after a proper assessment.
