Bhopal, May 23 -- In a rare medical feat, doctors at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) removed a denture lodged in a man's food pipe without surgery, saving his life through emergency endoscopy.

The 54-year-old patient from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, had been surviving on liquids and struggling to speak since he accidentally swallowed the denture.

Repeated visits to hospitals in Lalitpur, Jhansi, Gwalior and Bhopal yielded no relief. Scans revealed a hard object - likely a false tooth - stuck in his oesophagus, or food pipe.

Endoscopy attempts in Gwalior failed, and other hospitals recommended risky surgery. Doctors warned the procedure could be life-threatening due to the patient's age and deteriorating condition.
