Bhopal, May 14 -- A demolition drive in Fiza Colony on Tuesday sparked chaos in the Nariyalkheda area of the state capital as irate residents accused officials of proceeding despite a High Court stay.
Dozens of residents poured onto the streets after civic and police authorities arrived to demolish homes and shops. Residents claimed they had obtained a stay order from the Jabalpur High Court, valid until June 16, and were shocked by the action.
The colony comprises about 15 to 20 houses, built on plots sold by a builder around four decades ago. Residents said they had lived there since then, with generations growing up and settling in the area.
