New Delhi, March 13 -- In effort to strengthen indigenous defence capabilities of the country, Ministry of Defence on Wednesday here inked a capital acquisition contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ghaziabad for the procurement of Low-level Transportable Radar, LLTR (Ashwini) at a cost of '2,906 Crore.

The radar is indigenously designed and developed by Electronics and Radar Development Establishment, Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO).

The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, the ministry said.
