Nangal, May 13 -- / A day after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused farmer unions of maintaining "silence" over the escalating water-sharing row with Haryana, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) hit back, holding a forceful protest outside the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) office in Nangal on Monday. Led by BKU (Rajewal) president Balbir Singh Rajewal, around 300 activists gheraoed the office of the Chief Engineer, Nangal Dam, slamming BBMB for releasing extra water to Haryana from Punjab's share. Importantly, the farmers' union distanced itself from the AAP-led protest at the dam, choosing instead to mount independent pressure directly on BBMB.
