New Delhi, April 11 -- Opposition INDIA bloc on Thursday demanded the repeal of Section 44 (3) of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), contending that it destroys the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Amid concerns raised by civil society groups over the section that bars revealing personal information regarding any individual, and its impact on the RTI act, Opposition leaders alleged that the Government moved certain amendments when the Act was being passed in the Lok Sabha, which turned around the recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) that had examined the Bill.
