Bhopal, April 22 -- In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Branch of Bhopal has arrested Syed Parvez Hashmi, the alleged mastermind of a cybercrime syndicate, from Delhi. Hashmi, a 12th-grade pass resident of Umesh Nagar, had been absconding for nearly four years and was wanted for orchestrating a series of online frauds by impersonating customer care officers.

According to police officials, Hashmi's gang targeted unsuspecting victims by posing as representatives from leading banks. They would call individuals, claiming their credit cards were on the verge of being blocked, and trick them into revealing critical information such as card details and one-time passwords (OTPs).
