Chandigarh, Feb. 22 -- On the eve of a crucial meeting between farmer unions and the Central Government, farmers across Punjab and Haryana gathered in large numbers on Friday to observe the first death anniversary of Shubhkaran Singh, a young farmer who lost his life during the ongoing protests in 2024. Memorial services were held at his native village Ballo in Bathinda and at major protest sites - Khanauri, Shambhu, and Ratanpur borders. The occasion was marked by the unveiling of Shubhkaran's statue in his native village, candle marches in the evening, and renewed demands for justice.
