Lucknow, Feb. 21 -- The Congress-led Opposition alliance, INDIA Bloc, formed to challenge the BJP juggernaut in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has hit a deadlock following the standoff between Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and the Congress.

The rift emerged after Yadav declined to join Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, demanding an immediate seat adjustment agreement from the Congress.

Initially, the Congress sought 15 seats in Uttar Pradesh, but with the RLD's exit, the demand has been revised to 20 seats, while the Samajwadi Party is only willing to concede 17. Amid this deadlock, both parties remain adamant, exacerbating the stalemate.
