New Delhi, March 28 -- Actor turned politician, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan, on Thursday urged the Centre to issue commemorative stamps celebrating 50 years of the iconic Bollywood films Deewaar and Sholay.
Speaking in a Parliamentary session after Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar allowed her to speak, Jaya who starred in Sholay along with megastar and her husband Amitabh Bachchan, highlighted their cultural significance and lasting impact on Indian cinema. Jaya stressed that the stamps would honour the films' legacy and recognise their role in shaping the Indian film industry. Deewaar and Sholay remain beloved classics, making this tribute a meaningful acknowledgment of their enduring influence, said Jaya.
