India, Oct. 4 -- The Delhi Government will organise a special programme on October 6 to mark the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki.
He is revered as the Great Sage, Adi Kavi and author of the Ramayana.
The event, to be held at the Delhi Secretariat, will be led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and hosted by the Department of Social Welfare.
Announcing the programme, Chief Minister and Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh described Valmiki as not only a timeless poet but also a symbol of equality, justice, and humanity.
They said the celebration will pay tribute to his contribution to Indian thought and culture while also underlining his relevance in the fight against caste-based discrimination.
