RAIPUR, Sept. 25 -- Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday called for maximum employment every year to rural families under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), leading to the formation of a committee to prepare a work plan.

The MGNREGA guarantees minimum100 days of work for those residing in rural areas in a fiscal year, said Chief Minister. Chhattisgarh state has been providing 50 additional days apart from it, an official release said.

The statement said that in fiscal 2016-17, rural families in the state received 42 days average work. This rose to 52 in 2017-18 and 57 in 2018-19 on average.
