Bhopal, May 13 -- Bhopal's Buddhist viharas witnessed a sea of devotees as community members thronged to mark Buddha Purnima, celebrating the birth, enlightenment, and nirvana of Lord Buddha.

Devotees began arriving at viharas early in the morning. Clad in traditional attire, they offered prayers, recited the Dhammapada and listened to sermons.

The viharas were adorned with flowers, and the atmosphere buzzed with chants. Children, elders and women participated enthusiastically, reflecting deep communal involvement.

At Govindpura Vihara, speakers emphasised the contemporary relevance of Buddha's teachings. They highlighted compassion and equality as enduring solutions to rising inequality and societal tension.
