New Delhi, July 19 -- In a historic move aimed at integrated and balanced urban development, the Chhattisgarh Government has announced the formation of a State Capital Region (SCR) by combining Raipur, Durg-Bhilai and Naya Raipur (Atal Nagar). The decision was taken in the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

The SCR will follow the model of the National Capital Region (NCR), which has enabled the integrated development of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad. The SCR will focus on urban planning, infrastructure investment, inter-agency coordination and controlling unregulated urban sprawl.
