Ranchi, June 12 -- The Central government today approved a new railway project for Jharkhand, which will not only benefit the State but will also reduce carbon emissions and will save 32 crore liters of diesel annually.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Indian Railways is working on the Koderma-Barkakana multitracking project. Experts believe that the carbon dioxide saved due to this multitracking project is equal to planting 7 crore trees.
Vaishnav said that this project will benefit 15 lakh population of 938 villages. Additionally, 30.4 million tonnes of goods will be transported through this route. This will benefit the environment.
