New Delhi, May 3 -- Heavy rains with strong winds on Friday reportedly uprooted 100-200 trees across the national Capital. The fall of such a large number of trees in such a short span of three hours sparked a fresh concern among environmentalists over unchecked urban development. While rain lashes the city, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received 53 complaints of fallen trees and 16 complaints of water logging from 6 am to 2 pm on Friday across the city. The New Delhi Municipal Council reported 24 such incidents, while the Public Works Department (PWD) reported getting at least 200 complaints of uprooting of trees/branches.
