RAIPUR, July 15 -- The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Tuesday finally approved the outline of the ambitious 'Godhan Nyay Yojana' under which cow dung will be procured from livestock owners in villagers to be transformed into vermi-compost for farmers.

The Cabinet met at the official residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, an official statement said. The long pending merger of Shiksha Karmi was also approved.

The 'Godhan Nyay Yojana' will be launched on the day of Hareli (July 20).

At present there are 5,300 Gauthans in the state, out of which 2,408 are in urban areas, the communique added.

The Cabinet recommended procurement of dung at Rs 1.50 per kg from livestock owners and at Rs 2 per kg inclusive of the transport cost.
