BOKARO, April 8 -- Bokaro Steel Plant, India's fourth integrated public sector steel plant, stands as the nation's first indigenous steel unit-built using homegrown equipment, materials, and expertise. Since its inception in 1964, it has reshaped the region's industrial and socio-economic landscape.

Once a largely forested, agrarian region, Bokaro transformed with the establishment of the plant, selected for its rich mineral resources and strategic location.
