Bhopal, March 7 -- In a plot straight out of an Agatha Christie book, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers tracked down a person responsible for dumping medical waste in the open and slapped him with a Rs 6,000 spot fine on Thursday.

The chase began after municipal workers discovered the waste during an inspection near Kaliyasot Dam in Kolar Zone 18. The civic body employees searched through the waste and found a prescription that led to Deepak Thakur, a resident of Sarvdharm Colony, who was later fined Rs 6,000 for dumping the waste at a public place.

Meanwhile, the BMC anti-encroachment squad carried out a large-scale operation across multiple areas, including Bagmugaliya, Jatkhedi, Lalghati, ISBT, MP Nagar, Bittan Market, Nehru N...
