BHOPAL, Feb. 20 -- In a continued effort to curb air pollution and maintain cleanliness, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday levied spot fines on those found violating environmental norms.

Ritesh Patidar was fined Rs 2,000 after a wedding procession breached environmental norms by bursting firecrackers outside Utsav Marriage Garden on Hoshangabad Road.

BMC later said the act not only contributed to air pollution but also littered the service road, prompting immediate intervention by the municipal health department team.

As part of its relentless drive to penalize violators, BMC collected Rs 1,07,430 in fines across 819 cases of cleanliness violations. Additionally, Rs 15,100 was collected from 19 cases of Construction and...
