Bhopal, April 23 -- Accusing the administration of turning a blind eye to their repeated appeals, residents of Sai Ram Colony tied black blindfolds and staged a protest at the Collectorate in the state capital on Tuesday, demanding the relocation of a liquor shop.

Chanting slogans and holding placards, they said this was their eighth consecutive appearance at the Tuesday public hearing. Despite staging a sit-in for 22 days, no action had been taken. The blindfolds, they said, symbolised official apathy.

Resident Jeetu Marothia said their protest had included rituals and even sherbet distribution on Dr Ambedkar Jayanti. "We hoped for sensitivity, but nothing changed," he said.
