Jamshedpur, April 22 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a strong protest on Monday against a controversial statement made by Jharkhand government minister Hafizul Hasan Ansari, in which he claimed that Shariat is bigger than the Indian Constitution. The BJP condemned the remark as an attack on the nation's unity and democratic values. Led by Jamshedpur President Sudhanshu Ojha, hundreds of BJP workers, including MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Das Sahu, former state president Dineshanand Goswami, and state spokesperson Amarpreet Singh Kale, marched to the District Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor, demanding strict action against the minister.
