BOKARO, June 25 -- The Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a day-long block-level protest at the Chas block headquarters on Monday, voicing strong opposition against the state government over rising corruption, deteriorating law and order, lack of municipal elections, and poor public utility services.

Former Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, addressing the gathering, said that under the so-called "Abua Raj," the people of the state are falling victim to daily exploitation. He alleged that pension schemes for the elderly and widows are stalled, while illegal mining and smuggling of sand continue unchecked. "The government has failed to auction even a single sand ghat," he said.
