New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- Days after Capital's victory, the BJP is set to return to power in Delhi after 27 years. The last time BJP had a Chief Minister in Delhi was between 1993 and 1998, securing a one-sided victory with the tide of Ram Mandir movement on their side. During this period, the capital saw three different BJP leaders take charge. However, challenges were galore during the regime, as the party changed the CM thrice in the five-year term.

In 1993, Madan Lal Khurana, known as "Delhi ka Sher" (Lion of Delhi), became the first Chief Minister after the state Legislative Assembly was reinstated through the 69th Constitution Amendment Act, 1991. BJP had won 49 of the 70 seats, while Congress secured 14. Khurana's tenure was short lived...
