Kolkata, March 11 -- In what is being viewed as a countermove by the Trinamool Congress against Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari's efforts to strengthen saffron organisation in the backyard of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Bhawanipore in South Kolkata, the TMC again on Monday drew BJP blood getting yet another saffron MLA to join its ranks.
Saffron MLA from Haldia Tapasi Mondal along with a senior party leader Shyamal Maity joined the TMC in presence of State Minister Arup Biswas bringing down the number of BJP legislators in the State to about 65 (down from 77 in 2021). Haldia is in East Midnapore district. Mondal's big leap to the TMC a year ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections could deal a crucial blow to the BJP's fortunes...
