RAIPUR, May 24 -- After lime procured to sanitize roads and drains failed the quality tests, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh accused the Raipur Mayor and the Corporation of corruption amid the Covid-19 pandemic, putting lives in the capital city at risk.

The lime bought by the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) was found to be sub-standard.

BJP spokesperson and former RMC Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava said: "It is quite surprising that half of the stock procured has been sprayed in the city limits. Soil content was found higher in several sacks of lime. No action has been taken yet against those responsible for the purchase and the agency which has supplied the material."
