JAJPUR, Nov. 27 -- A BJD woman leader, Jhuni Patra, was arrested from Jajpur district after 30 grams of brown sugar was seized from her possession, police said on Saturday. She is a resident of Dolipur under the Jajpur Road Model police station.
Acting on a tipoff, a team of Flying Squad officers of the Excise Department conducted a raid at Dolipur and seized the contraband valued at around Rs 3 lakh, police sources said.
Significantly, Jhuni Patra admitted that she is a BJD leader from Ward No-19 of the town and president of a local unit of the ruling party.
A case has been registered against Patra under various sections of IPC and the NDPS Act, 1985. Official sources said Patra has a Baleswar link in the illegal trade.
