Bhopal, June 24 -- The Madhya Pradesh government's plan to reclaim 2,000 acres from BHEL for a mega township on Monday triggered fierce protests from employees and union leaders in Bhopal.

A demonstration was held outside the Foundry Gate, with officers and workers opposing the transfer of land. They claim the move threatens BHEL's operations and employee welfare, established over six decades on the same site.

The state's proposed integrated township, already cleared by the Centre, will house healthcare, education, industrial, and residential facilities. Officials say it could transform Bhopal's development trajectory.
