BOKARO, March 12 -- Doctors at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) successfully saved a critically injured man who suffered severe facial and head injuries from a sword attack. The patient, Raj Mahtha, was brought to the hospital on February 25, 2025, with his face split into three parts and deep wounds on his neck and head, struggling to breathe.
A medical team led by Dr. Aninda Mandal acted swiftly, performing emergency resuscitation and a seven-hour surgery to stop the bleeding. Due to airway obstruction, an ENT team conducted a tracheostomy to restore breathing. The patient was then shifted to the critical care unit (CCU), where doctors worked to prevent lung infection caused by internal bleeding.
