Garhwa, June 23 -- Three days of heavy rain have caused significant damage across the Garhwa district. A major canal project, the Bai Banki Canal-constructed just last year at a cost of Rs. 165 crore-has collapsed after the first monsoon rain. As a result, many acres of farmland have been destroyed. This canal was built to support nearly 25,000 farmers in areas like Bisunpura, Majhianv, Bardiha, and Kandi. However, the first rainfall has exposed serious flaws in the construction, raising concerns about corruption.
