Lucknow, April 23 -- Baghpat, historically known as Vyaghraprastha (the land of tigers), is one of the politically significant regions in Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and voting will take place there in the second phase of parliamentary elections on April 26.

The Baghpat Lok Sabha constituency in west UP comprises five Vidhan Sabha segments - Siwalkhas, Chhaprauli, Baraut, Baghpat and Modi Nagar. The incumbent Member of Parliament is Dr Satya Pal Singh, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party.
