BHUBANESWAR, March 19 -- IT firm Mindtree cofounder Subroto Bagchi has resigned as the Chairman of the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) to protect the company from a hostile takeover.

Taking to the Twitter on Sunday, Bagchi mentioned about his resignation and his return to Bengaluru to save the Mindtree.

"Mindtree has not been designed as an "asset" to be bought and sold. It is a national resource. It has a unique culture that humanizes the idea of business. It sets the standards of corporate governance. I need to be there in its time of difficulty. Hence the hard decision to return," Bagchi posted on Twitter.

Notably, Bagchi had been appointed as OSDA Chairman on May 1, 2016 with a status of the Cabinet rank Minister.
