India, Jan. 27 -- The Delhi Legislative Assembly opened its historic premises to the public on Monday to mark the 77th Republic Day. The occasion draws large crowds of citizens who participated in celebrations marked by patriotic fervour, cultural performances and tricolour illumination of the iconic Vidhan Sabha building.
The initiative, led by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, was aimed at bringing citizens closer to the country's democratic institutions and constitutional heritage.
