New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- The sensitivity of the Assam Rifles to peoples' woes due to bad road connectivity on either side of the Barak River in Manipur affecting scores of villages in the area led to an urge to undertake the repair work of the 22-km-stretch of the Tamei-Dikuiram road in Tamenglong district.

The project that was launched by 44 Assam Rifles on October 12 last year was completed on January 4. But even before the formal inauguration of the vital link road on February 9, the connectivity project linked the hearts of the local people, especially youth and women who toiled along with the paramilitary personnel in completing the repair work in a record 85 days despite all odds.
