Jammu, April 25 -- An elite Para Commando of the Indian Army was 'killed in action' after an encounter broke out during an ongoing search operation in the forest area of Dudu Basantgarh in Udhampur district of Jammu region on Thursday.
A joint team of security forces were combing the area based on the receipt of information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
After the brutal massacre of tourists in Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists were killed and 17 others were wounded on Tuesday, this is the third encounter in the last 24 hours between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid in the Uri Nala area of Baramulla, killing two terrorists amid an intense firefight.
