New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Leaders of ruling NDA and Opposition parties held separate meetings on Monday in a show of unity on the eve of the vice presidential elections.
Both the sides briefed their MPs on the election process and members also participated in a mock poll. In the NDA meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised MPs to see to it that they vote in a correct manner in the polls so that no vote is wasted, sources said.
Members of Parliament are not bound by party whips to vote in the vice presidential election, which takes place under a secret ballot system.
