Jammu, Aug. 8 -- The anti-terror operation launched in the Akhal forest area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district to flush out the heavily armed group of terrorists hiding in the area is turning out to be one of the major challenges for the joint team of security forces, as the fierce gunfight has raged on since August 1.

As many as nine soldiers have received injuries in the fierce exchange of fire, and only one terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces.

Unconfirmed reports, however, claimed that at least three terrorists have been gunned down. On ground zero, the security forces are yet to retrieve dead bodies from inside the deep jungles and confirm the exact number of terrorists killed in the operation.
