Lucknow, March 1 -- Ashish Gupta, an IPS officer of the 1989 batch and posted as DG (Rules & Manuals), has sought voluntary retirement (VRS) from the government.
Gupta still has about 22 months left until retirement, but he has applied for VRS, giving a notice of three months.
Earlier, IPS Aseem Arun had taken VRS to foray into politics. Besides, Amitabh Thakur, Rajesh Krishna, and Rakesh Shankar, all officers of the IPS cadre of Uttar Pradesh, have been given compulsory retirement by the government.
