India, Dec. 24 -- After three months of strenuous efforts, doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, have managed to save the life of a five-year-old critically ailing child from Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, who had been admitted to the hospital in a serious condition with coma and acute kidney failure following suspected consumption of a toxic cough syrup.
The child was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the AIIMS, Nagpur, on September 11, 2025, and admitted to the PICU in a state of deep coma, severe hypotension, multi-organ dysfunction, and near-absent brainstem reflexes.
