Bhopal, May 6 -- AIIMS Bhopal has achieved a remarkable medical milestone by successfully performing a complex surgery on a low birth weight newborn diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a serious congenital defect.
The condition was diagnosed antenatally during the seventh month of pregnancy as a critical case. Upon expert medical advice, the family opted to deliver the baby at AIIMS Bhopal, where a safe delivery was carried out.
At birth, the baby weighed only 2.2 kilograms and suffered severe respiratory distress due to the congenital anomaly. Immediately after delivery, the newborn was placed on ventilator support and kept under intensive care for nearly three weeks.
