Lucknow, June 4 -- In a decisive step to reduce the growing incidents of human-wildlife conflict, particularly attacks by tigers and leopards, the Uttar Pradesh Forest and Wildlife Department is preparing a detailed proposal to relocate big cats from densely populated forest zones to areas with lower wildlife concentration. The proposal will soon be submitted to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) for approval.
The State has been witnessing over 50 human deaths annually due to tiger and leopard attacks, making the situation increasingly alarming. With buffer zones between forests and human settlements shrinking across districts from Bahraich to Bijnor, the risk of conflict has reached critical levels.
